My music journey began before my oldest memory. My entire life I have heard anecdotes and stories where the motif is pretty obvious, always revolving around music, in one way or another. My mother showed me how to operate the turntable at the age of 2, because I was obsessed with the records. I had my own stereo and was recording mixtapes from the radio at the age of 3 (educated guess based on the song selection of a cassette tape that survived several moves and was found about a decade later). At my preschool, I used to sneak away from class into the music room, only to be discovered when I started playing the piano, disrupting whatever quiet activity they were trying to do. In my late teens, I randomly ran into my kindergarten teacher, who not only recognized me, but also told me that whenever there was a guest in our class, I would be the first to volunteer, not to offer welcoming words, but to improvise a song about the importance of their visit. I have no recollection of any of these events! I guess it shouldn’t come as a huge surprise when later I was constantly drawn to musical activities, from choir to flute ensemble, to an extensive music collection, to poorly self-taught guitar, to my first song, to my first band. If I had to pick a spirit animal that embodies my musical taste, it would be a chameleon. Ever changing, finding beauty in its surroundings. Ever evolving. I can be caught listening to Julie London as often as I can be caught listening to Fito Páez and as often as I can be listening to Halestorm. I do have to admit that I tend to gravitate towards metal, it’s like comfort food, it feels like home. A few years ago, I joined a folk metal band, and discovered primal elements that fit too well the musical aesthetic of my metal home. I invite you to share this ever evolving musical journey with me
Hello everyone, this is DJ Joe, and I have a huge passion for music, especially rock and metal. I was raised in a very musical household, and both of my parents love classic rock from the 70s and 80s. When I was a teenager, I started to expand my taste into heavier music while still having a great love for the classic rock that I was raised on. I love to talk about music with my friends, Blackspinner’s Circle, and the Free Form Rock Podcast. I hope that you all enjoy jammin' and host and guest on several music podcasts including Heavy Water 77, The BS Sessions at the garage with me!
Howdy all, my name is DJ Spur, I have been listening to country music since my first cassette and cd as a kid. Growing up I have experienced a wide range of genres from classic rock/metal from my brothers, easy listening and jazz from my parents, to rap/hip hop in high school, but country music has always held a special place in my heart/soul. As far as my physical experience with music, I ran the mixer and sound system for the church I went to and performed karaoke songs at local bars, but this is the first opportunity to experience life from behind the microphone. I am happy to bring you the best in outlaw, classic, bluegrass, new, and everything the country genre has to offer. Come join me in the Branding Iron! Cowboy Up!
